FROM EAST, WEST AND AFRICA - Booth B15

On the occasion of Art Paris Art Fair 2017, Claude Lemand will be presenting an impressive project titled From East, West and Africa: a solo show dedicated to the recent paintings of the Moroccan Najia Mehadji and a group show of a choice of works by 11 other artists.

Solo show. Najia MEHADJI.

Najia Mehadji will be exhibiting her large compositions, whether canvases or gouaches on paper, in which she draws her inspiration from the music and dances of Eastern and African mystical societies and from the recent migration movements to the North :
- Mystic Dance, 2016. Digital works on canvas, each one 200 x 200 cm.
- Gnawa Soul, 2016. Acrylic on canvas, 160 x 150 cm + gouache on paper, 50 x 50 cm.
- Blue Wave, 2016. Acrylics on canvas, 120 x 200 cm + gouaches on paper, 50 x 50 cm and 65 x 50 cm.

Group show: From East, West and Africa.

The exhibition comprising of four Moroccan artists and four Algerian artists is an act of faith and of hope for the African continent, as Africa is the guest of honour in Paris this spring 2017, not only at Art Paris but also in various museums and public or private institutions. In a booth of over 120 sq. m., the fair’s largest, Claude Lemand sought to showcase to the 57,000 visitors of the Grand Palais the rich eclecticism of the work of thirteen artists from his gallery, who bear witness to the creative dialogue between the Eastern, Western and African cultures.
